The 31st European Biomass Conference & Exhibition will take place in Bologna, from the 5th – 8th of June,2023.
EUBCE 2023 will offer a substantive scientific conference with engaging industry-focused perspectives, complemented by an outstanding exhibition, events, and side sessions for knowledge exchange and networking. SUSTCERT4BIOBASED, HARMONITOR and STAR4BBS that assess certification schemes and labels (CSLs) and their use to ascertain the sustainability of bio-based products in the European Union will be present. The three sister projects SUSTCERT4BIOBASED, HARMONITOR and STAR4BBS with HARMONITOR organising the first joint workshop on Sustainability Certification of
Bio-based Products will present preliminary results from their project’s progress so far, including the overview of policy priorities in establishing sustainability requirements. They will also discuss the first outcomes of the open stakeholder consultation on the effectiveness and robustness of CSLs, the biobased value chains and trade flows, and the proposed monitoring system they are designing collaboratively. The various talks will be followed by a roundtable discussing the role of CSLs as a co-regulation instrument.
Presentations will feature preliminary results from all three projects, including amongst others the overview of policy priorities in establishing sustainability requirements, the first outcomes of an open stakeholder consultation on the effectiveness and robustness of CSLs, biobased value chains and trade flows, the proposed monitoring system the three sister projects are designing, followed by a roundtable discussing the role of CSLs as a co-regulation instrument.
Finally, the event will feature a roundtable discussion in which various stakeholders will be asked to present their views on the potential role(s) of CSLs in the future European Circular Bioeconomy and on the design of a monitoring tool for CSLs.
