BIOBASEDCERT Cluster

The three Horizon Europe projects funded under the same call, SUSTCERT4BIOBASED (Sustainability Certification for Biobased Systems), STAR4BBS (Sustainability Transition Assessment Rules for Bio-BasedSystems), and HARMONITOR (Harmonisation and monitoring platform for certification schemes and labels to advance the sustainability of bio-based systems), have formed a project cluster named BIOBASEDCERT. The cluster works together in the implementation of different joint activities, including the development and implementation of the BIOBASEDCERT Monitoring System (BMS).

The objectives of the BIOBASEDCERT cluster are:

01

Gain a precise picture of existing sustainability certification schemes and labels for industrial biobased systems

Gather global trade data on volumes of biological feedstock and bio-based materials and products, differentiating between certified and uncertified flows

02

02

Develop and test a monitoring system (BMS) to assess the effectiveness and robustness of existing sustainability certifications schemes and labels (CSLs)

03

Explore the impact on the adoption of sustainability CSLs performing a feasibility study on selected  CSLs

Develop and disseminate findings and recommendations to promote the adoption of effective and robust sustainability CSLs by different categories of stakeholders
